The Jaramillo Lab is seeking a passionate Postdoctoral Researcher to join our innovative team dedicated to advancing phage-assisted accelerated evolution techniques for engineering proteins. Applicants must have applied for doctoral degree equivalency through the Spanish academic system to be considered. Our work focuses on the re-engineering of gene regulation and the development of novel phages to combat antimicrobial resistance.
Key Responsibilities:
– Cloning and genetic manipulation of Escherichia coli.
– Cloning and genetic manipulation of phages.
– Directed evolution of phages using programmable parallel bioreactors (Chi.Bio).
– Production and testing of pyocins in Escherichia coli and other Gram-negative bacteria.
– Regular report writing.
Qualifications:
– PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or related field with «equivalency» by the Spanish academic system.
– Experience in genome engineering and large plasmid assembly in bacteria.
– Strong foundation in synthetic biology techniques.
– Motivation to pioneer research in phage therapy using phage engineering and evolution.
While prior experience with phages is advantageous, we are keen to consider candidates eager to immerse themselves in the field of phage therapy, regardless of their background with natural or engineered phages.
